CA216C1 "Frosty" (pronounced FRAA-stee), also known as "Frostbite" (pronounced FRAAST-bite), is a 4-year-old West Coast transient killer whale. They are notable for their rare, white coloration. Their sex is currently unknown.

Early Life[]

Frosty was first seen on September 4th, 2019. When first seen, they were initially believed to be another young orca from the same population with unusual pale coloration, T046B1B "Tl'uk." However, when Frosty was seen again a few days later, it was confirmed that they were two different individuals, and that Frosty's family is the CA216's. [1] Frosty's mother is CA216C, and they are her first calf.

Frosty was seen again in March of 2020 and appeared healthy. They were a lighter gray color from when they were first seen. [2]

Frosty was most recently sighted in October of 2023.
