Kanuck (pronounced Kuh-NAK) was an approximately 4-year-old male Icelandic killer whale who lived at Marineland of Canada. He was born there on August 28th, 1994. His mother was Kiska and his father was Kandu VII. Kanuck passed away due to traumatic shock around Spring 1998. The circumstances surrounding his death are unknown.
Birth / Life at Marineland[]
On August 28th 1994, Kiska gave birth to her second calf. It was a male later given the name Kanuck. He was born 1.5 meters long and weighed 67 kilograms. Unlike her other calf, Kanuck seemed healthy and was the first of her calves to survive his first year. He spent time with his mother who took very good care of him until he was moved to the "warehouse", a place with no fresh air or sunlight. Here, he met his half sister Neocia. Later on, he met Malik and Nova. It is unknown why he was in the warehouse, but he remained there for the rest of his life.

Sometime in 1998, Kanuck died due to traumatic shock.
